Over recent years the school have been accepting 60 pupils per year group which will result in 420 pupils when all year groups are full. This has led to a shortage of support spaces within the school as all specialist spaces (e.g. IT room, Library etc) have been converted in to classrooms.

The proposal is to add a 2 storey block of 4 new classrooms and associated spaces in order to free up internal spaces for a larger staffroom, new food technology room, library and SEN facilities. There is also a proposal to add a MUGA – Multi-Use–Games-Area to order to maximise the school’s outdoor facilities since it can be used more intensively than grass.

The school have already moved to 14 classrooms and the teachers are in post, 3 year groups are already at 60 pupils so over the next 4 years the other year groups will increase by about 5-10 children per year. Therefore there will not be a significant increase in drop off/pick up traffic compared to the current situation. A second pedestrian entrance on Cavendish Road is also proposed which may help to reduce bottlenecks on Portland Road.

An informal consultation was held at the school on Thursday 18th January 2018, prior to a planning application.
